Siddha, regarded as the crown therapy among all the traditional Indian medical sciences, have a long-standing history of over 5000 years. Amongst the varied traditional treatments, the Siddha diagnostic methodology is quite unique and interesting that includes eight important diagnostic methods which includes They are Naadi or pulse diagnosis, Sparisam or touch, Naa or tongue examination, Niram or colour of skin, Mozhi or speech, Vizhi or eye examination, Malam or faeces and Moothiram or urine examination. Out of the eight different ways, Naadi, also known as pulse reading, is the most common and extensively used method by the Siddha physician.
After the right diagnosis general internal medication and some external treatments like oil massage, Varma treatments, herbal treatments, steam baths etc are used for health betterment and sustainability.
Under the general medication, the person is analyzed watchfully using the pulse reading method and thus, the treatment is offered accordingly. The external treatment methods like Varma, the focus is put on the various nerve centers that are also known as the Varmams (which are the specific areas in the body where the life force is found). Basically, there are 108 such vital Varma points in the human body. These are the points, which regulates the life and incase of any trauma or injury to these regions, it can even prove fatal. Siddha medicine offers varied treatment and plays an essential role in correcting the disorder.
While, the oil massage therapy revitalizes and rejuvenates the basic doshas or impurities of the body, eliminating the disorders or impurities, Siddha works magically on the complete health and mental balance of an individual. Using the herbal ingredients along with the specific medicated herbal oil, massages etc, the body tissues are nourished. As a result of the process, the blood circulation and tissue strength is improved, entire body is rejuvenated and toxins are removed from the body organs and cells.
